The second reason is that the sexual prowess myth is out there and many white men feel that they just cannot compete with black men in this department. The stereotype is out there, we all “know it,” so there’s no sense in pretending it isn’t. Is it true? That doesn’t matter. Perception is everything.
And that makes many white men anxious. Out of the two reasons, this is probably the least important of the two. The attack on white masculinity and privilege is probably the far more damaging of the two.
